Jefferson Refinery accused of failing to pay company more than $160,000

A consulting company has filed suit against Jefferson Refinery, alleging the company failed to pay for more than $160,000 worth of services it provided. Refinery

ENGlobal US alleges it engaged in consulting and engineering services for Jefferson Refinery under an open account for which Jefferson Refinery was obligated to pay at a later date. Since then, however, Jefferson Refinery has refused to pay for the services, according to the complaint filed March 11 in Jefferson County District Court.

“The total unpaid principal balance owed by Jefferson Refinery to ENGlobal is $168,916.55,” the suit states. “The unpaid principal balance due ENGlobal on the account is evidenced by the unpaid invoices from August 13, 2011, to August 2, 2011.”

ENGlobal alleges breach of contract and violation of the Prompt Payment Act against Jefferson Refinery.

In addition to the money it claims it is owed, ENGlobal is seeking attorney’s fees, pre- and post-judgment interest and costs.

It will be represented by James D. Smith and Rodney J. Cappel of Smith Adams Law in Houston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 190th District Court.
